The 2024 Ford Bronco Sport is a rugged-looking compact SUV. All versions of the Bronco Sport boast solid capabilities when it comes to off-road performance. In fact, for 2024, the Badlands version elevates the experience of venturing off the beaten paths to a whole new level.
While the vehicle reuses the C2 platform of the Ford Escape, its ground clearance is higher and its drive modes are designed for the extreme twists and turns found in nature, rather than in the downtown area.
Five versions are available for the 2024 model year: Big Bend, Sport Heritage, Free Wheeling, Outer Banks and Badlands, with base prices ranging from $41,200 to $48,700.
The Bronco Free Wheeling version is brand-new. It drew inspiration from a limited edition that ran from 1977 to 1981. Notable features include a two-tone black roof, the Terrain Management System (TMS), 17-inch red and black rims, fabric seats with shaded stitching, and colored bands (“Sunset”) on the flanks of the body.
With regard to powertrains, the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport features a 1.5 L inline-three EcoBoost engine (181 hp/190 lbf·ft), paired with a standard A8 transmission. This same eight-speed transmission accompanies the other option in engines, a 2.0 L inline-four EcoBoost (250 hp/277 lbf·ft).
With a distinctive grille, skid plates under the floorboard, a boxy silhouette, standard all-wheel drive, well-articulated suspension, a front-mounted 180-degree camera and more, the Bronco Sport isn’t just for show. It’s a true 4×4. Despite that, it’s also very versatile, as it handles relatively smoothly on the highway, thanks to its premium-quality suspension.
The Terrain Management System (TMS) in the Ford Bronco Sport remains unchanged for 2024. This system offers five GOAT (Go Over Any Terrain) drive modes: Sand, Slippery, Sport, Eco and Normal. The various settings modify the parameters of the accelerator, stability control and braking distribution. Other features include locking differentials and Ford Trail Control. The latter manages the accelerator and brakes at very low speeds so that the driver only needs to master the steering wheel when tackling such challenges as abrupt steep inclines or deep ruts.
